As the golf season rolled around, the Duncan Stewart team attended the annual BPMA Golf Day 2023. Representing our family-run business for the first time at this event were directors Andrew, and Fraser Stewart, as well as myself, Tom Burgess. Day to day I am the Sales and Operations Supervisor but at this event I was player, caddy, and buggy driver!

Barring a brief heavy shower in the afternoon the weather was glorious and fitting for such a marvellous course as the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club. First stop was the clubhouse for the day’s briefing and a chance to meet some fellow BPMA members. It was great to meet so many wonderful people in person, especially as people had travelled from across the UK. We were kindly given a goodie bag full of our fellow member’s wares to assist us on the course – I was particularly fond of the magnetic divot repair and ball marker combo tool! Fuelled by a bacon roll it was time to hit the course for the 9-hole Texas Scramble event. Knowing we had 27 holes to play and the conditions being hot we rented a buggy to help leave the 27 holes standing! With a couple of team birdies and one bogie across the 9 holes we left with a respectable score of -1. After factoring in our not-so-low handicaps we achieved a top half finish in the table consisting of 9 teams.

After a tasty bite to eat at the halfway house we set-out for the second event of the day proudly representing the company with our embroidered tri-fold golf towels.

Despite not faring so well in the 18-hole better ball Stableford competition there were a few notable moments! Fraser chipped in from distance for a birdie on a par 4, Andrew dominated tee shots with the driver, and some fun mini challenges such as a ‘Beat the Pro’ hole and nearest the pin challenges on each of the par 3s! After our fun on the course was over we rounded off the day by heading back to the 19th hole (or in this case, the 28th!) for another chance to network with the day’s attendees. This enabled us to turn the competition into friends and acquaintances that are sure to blossom into fruitful business relationships in the future.

fathers day reflection from our director

As Father’s Day approaches, I want to celebrate the remarkable legacy of my late father, Duncan Stewart, who founded Duncan Stewart Textiles. Although he passed away in 2005, his spirit lives on through the dedication of myself, Fraser Stewart, and my brother, Andrew.

Duncan Stewart Textiles is a testament to our father’s unwavering passion, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence. He instilled in us a strong work ethic and a determination to provide quality products and exceptional service to our customers.

From our humble beginnings, we have grown to serve a diverse range of industries, including Corporate, Hospitality, Football Clubs, Gyms, Golf Clubs, Schools, and Promotional Businesses. Our success is rooted in the values and principles passed down by our father.

While upholding his legacy, we have expanded our offerings by introducing an in-house embroidery department and a laser department. These additions allow us to provide personalised products, reflecting our commitment to innovation and meeting customer demands.

Beyond business, our father’s greatest achievement was the relationships he built with our customers. His warmth, integrity, and genuine care for others continue to guide us in our interactions. We strive to foster enduring connections and provide valuable advice and support to those who trust us with their textile needs.

On this Father’s Day, we honour Duncan Stewart and express our gratitude for the foundation he laid. We, Fraser and Andrew, are committed to carrying his legacy forward and ensuring that Duncan Stewart Textiles thrives for generations to come.

To all our customers, friends, and fellow fathers, thank you for being part of our journey. Your support and trust inspire us every day. Let us remember and celebrate not only our own fathers but also the incredible individuals who have shaped our lives.
